Designed for conditions too demanding for many other AEDs.
On the scene with law enforcement, on the field with student athletes or on the job with employees, the Philips HeartStart FRx Defibrillator is designed to be easy to set-up and use, rugged and reliable.

  • Simple to use. Saving a life is stressful. A defibrillator should pull you through, not get in your way. The HeartStart FRx offers on-demand CPR Coaching to help the stressed user recall their training. Calm, clear voice instructions are precisely timed to the responder’s actions, guiding the responder every step of the way. At just 3.5 pounds, it is among the smallest and lightest defibrillators.

  • Simplify the rescue of a child with the Infant/Child key. Unique in the industry, the Infant/child key turns the HeartStart FRx into a pediatric defibrillator, tailoring the voice instructions and therapy to the needs of a child. That means just one pad set works for adults, children, and infants, simplifying a stressful rescue.

  • Rugged. Designed for real-world use, the HeartStart FRx was built to surpass rigorous testing requirements: jetting water, crushing loads up to 500 pounds and a one-meter drop onto concrete.

  • Ready when needed. Every HeartStart FRx goes through a 120 point test before it leaves the factory. On the job, the HeartStart FRx automatically conducts self-tests every single day, not just weekly. It performs over 85 different tests in all. Even the pads are tested for readiness.

  • Effective. Philips pioneered the use of biphasic waveforms in external defibrillators.  The electric medicine delivered by the HeartStart FRx has been rigorously studied, with more than 40 studies demonstrating high first shock efficacy and effectiveness across the full spectrum of patients. Philips SMART Biphasic therapy uses a unique combination of high current to maximize effectiveness and a lower energy dose to minimize side effects that are harmful to a fragile heart. The result – the HeartStart FRx delivers its maximum shock strength starting with the first shock. There’s no need to hold back shock strength.

  • Make the most of CPR. Recent studies have shown that CPR is even more vital to survival than previously realized, yet the benefits can dissipate quickly.1,2,3,4 Rapidly delivering a shock after chest compressions is critical. The HeartStart FRx’s Quick Shock feature delivers therapy in just 8 seconds (typical) after chest compressions. Other devices can take 2 or 3 times that, reducing the likelihood of shock success, and potentially, survival.

  • Give your early defibrillation program the best chance for success. The HeartStart FRx Ready-Pack configuration arrives to you virtually ready-to-rescue out of the box, with device pre-installed in carry case, and battery and pads pre-installed in the device.  The Ready-Pack is designed to be the simplest-to-deploy AED, giving you the peace of mind that it is deployed correctly, with less effort. The simple and welcoming set-up and maintenance instructions are designed to take the intimidation out of owning a defibrillator.

With HeartStart AED Services, Philips experts can draw on a wealth of experience to help you get your program started on the right foot, with pre-implementation consulting and site assessments. We can help manage your everyday needs, including medical direction from a licensed physician, AED/CPR training, web-based program management, and case management software.

Patient Analysis

Patient Analysis

Evaluates patient ECG to determine if a rhythm is shockable. Rhythms considered shockable are ventricular fibrillation (VF), and certain ventricular tachycardias (VT) associated with lack of circulation. For safety reasons, some VT rhythms associated with circulation will not be interpreted as shockable, and some very low-amplitude or low-frequency rhythms will not be interpreted as shockable VF.

Meets AAMI DF80 guidelines and AHA recommendations for adult defibrillation (Circulation 1997;95:1677-1682).

Shock Advised

Able to deliver a shock as soon as the device indicates a shock is advised.

Quick Shock

Able to deliver a shock after the end of a CPR interval, typically in eight seconds.

Shock-to-Shock Cycle Time

Typically less than 20 seconds between shocks in a series.

Advanced signal processing allows accurate ECG analysis even in the presence of most pacemaker artifact and electrical noise sources. Other artifacts are detected and corrective voice prompts issued.
